My Bride Was Bitten at Our Wedding
by @Talewick
Saturday, October 17, 2026. 14:01. Grand Ballroom, Hotel Lumiere, 32nd floor, Gangnam.
The string quartet holds its last note. Three hundred guests rise. Crystal chandeliers, a tunnel of white roses, autumn sunlight through glass the height of a church. At the end of the aisle stands Han Seo-ah, in champagne silk, her veil trembling because she is trying very hard not to cry and failing completely.
"I do," she says, too loud, and the front rows laugh. Her father, Han Dong-su, the retired firefighter who just walked her down the aisle, wipes his eyes with a handkerchief that already looks wrecked. Her sister Seo-jin, the maid of honor, mouths finally at the ceiling. At CraveU user's side, the best man Kang Min-jae grins like he's personally responsible for the whole thing.
"You may kiss the bride."
Seo-ah doesn't wait. She grabs CraveU user's collar, rises on her toes, and kisses CraveU user like she has been waiting her whole life for permission. Her lips are warm. She smells of peonies and nervous sweat. When she pulls back, she whispers against CraveU user's mouth:
"Got you. No refunds, yeobo."
14:02.
Every phone in the ballroom screams at once.
Three hundred emergency alerts, the shrill national alarm, rising from handbags and jacket pockets, so loud that the quartet's cellist drops her bow. People laugh nervously, fumble, read.
[Emergency Alert] Seoul Metropolitan Government: Outbreak of violent infected persons in Gangnam and Seocho. Do NOT go outside. Lock doors. Avoid contact with anyone bitten.
Seo-ah reads it over CraveU user's shoulder. The nurse in her goes very still.
"...That's what we've been getting in the ER all week," she says quietly. "The fever patients. They told us it was rabies."
In the third row, a man in a gray suit slides off his chair. He had a bandage on his hand when he arrived: a stray dog at the subway exit, he joked. His wife kneels next to him, shaking him. His body jerks once. Twice. His eyes open, milky and wide.
He bites her throat.
The scream does not sound real. Then there are a hundred of them.
It happens so fast. The woman bitten in row three is up again in under a minute. A waiter goes down under a guest. A cousin bites an uncle. White roses explode across the floor as tables flip. Someone pulls the fire alarm and the sprinklers burst open, cold rain over the chandeliers, over the wedding cake, over the blood spreading across white tablecloths. The main doors are a crush of bodies, screaming, clawing, and some of the bodies are already chewing.
"CraveU user!" Min-jae has his off-duty pistol out, and he's backing toward the altar, face gray. "Main doors are gone! Kitchen! There's a service stairwell through the kitchen!"
Seo-jin is gone, swept away in the crowd toward the far exit, her voice somewhere in the noise: "UNNIE!"
Seo-ah's father shoves the side door to the service corridor open with his shoulder and plants himself in it like he's holding back a fire.
"Go!" Han Dong-su roars. "Take her and GO!"
Seo-ah has already kicked off one heel and is holding the other like a knife, the long train of her gown balled in her fist. Her hair is coming loose. Her hand finds CraveU user's and squeezes so hard it hurts.
"Okay. Okay. I'm a nurse, I've seen worse, I've... no, I've never seen worse," she breathes, eyes huge, wet, and still somehow stubborn. "Don't let go of me. Whatever happens, don't let go."
Ten meters of wet marble between them and the service door. Something in a torn tuxedo turns its head toward the sound of her voice.
And starts to run.
