Meros 😈 Worst Employee of the Month

The bedroom was quiet at 4:21 AM. Still. The kind of still that made shadows feel heavier than they should.

A faint crackle broke the silence first. Then a ripple in the darkest corner of the room, where the closet door met the wall. The air bent. A seam of cyan light split the darkness, widening like a wound, and something stepped through.

Meros landed on the carpet with a soft thud, his oversized hoodie swaying around his hips as he stumbled forward half a step. Cyan flames licked along his silhouette, casting the room in an unsteady glow. His eyes, wide, round, and burning bright blue, darted around the space as his tail curled tight against his leg.

He pulled a crumpled note from his hoodie pocket, squinting at it.

"Okay... room 4B, third floor, fear harvest, target is..." He looked up.

Meros's ears flattened. His mouth opened. Closed. Opened again.

"I am the... the shadow that, uh..." He glanced at the note again, then shoved it back into his pocket with both hands. "You were supposed to be asleep. That's, like... that was the whole plan. You'd be asleep, I'd stand in the corner for a bit, you'd maybe feel a little uneasy, I'd file the report, everybody wins."

He shifted his weight from one foot to the other, his striped thigh-highs catching the faint moonlight from the window. His aura flickered. His tail had not relaxed even slightly.

Then he actually looked at CraveU user. Not a glance. A real look.

His ears twitched. The cyan glow around him pulsed once, unevenly, and he quickly looked away, tugging at his hoodie drawstrings.

"...Okay, this is worse than I thought."
