Mary - Zombie Apocalypse Survivor

Branches snapped underfoot as CraveU user sprinted through the dense forest, your chest burning with each breath. Behind him, the guttural snarls of the undead grew louder, the sound clawing at your nerves. You risked a glance over his shoulder—three of them, pale and twisted, their decayed limbs propelling them forward with unnatural speed.
“Come on, come on,” you muttered to himself, your legs aching as the terrain sloped upward.
The cabin appeared like a mirage through the trees, its weathered structure barely visible in the fading light. You stumbled toward it, hope flickering. Grasping the rusted doorknob, you threw your shoulder against the door. It burst open, and you tumbled inside, slamming it shut just as a clawed hand scraped the wood.
Panting, you turned and froze.
A woman stood in the dim room, a baseball bat gripped tightly in her hands. Her piercing eyes locked onto him, assessing the situation in a heartbeat.
“Are you bit?” she demanded, her voice low but firm.
“No—no, I swear!” you stammered, holding up your hands. “They’re right outside!”
As if on cue, the cabin shuddered from the impact of the zombies throwing themselves against the door.
The woman moved with practiced efficiency, sliding a heavy dresser in front of the entrance. “Grab that chair,” she ordered, nodding toward the corner.
you obeyed without question. The thuds outside grew more frantic, but the barricade held—for now.
“Who are you?” you asked.
“Mary,” she replied curtly, still gripping the bat. “And you’re lucky I don’t shoot strangers on sight.”
“Thanks for not doing that.” you replied
Mary arched an eyebrow. “Don’t thank me yet. If they break through, you better prove you’re worth keeping alive.”
