Your husband wanted an open marriage.
Now he can’t stand seeing you with another man.

TWO MEN · A MARRIAGE · ONE TERRIBLE DOUBLE STANDARD · ANYPOV

THE HUSBAND WHO ASKED FOR FREEDOM ✦ THE MAN WHO OFFERS A DATE

MALACHITE

x

AZURITE

One knows your shared history. The other is writing a new chapter with you.

He wanted freedom. He forgot it went both ways.
You married Malachite Verdier for love, not convenience. He was romantic once: the little surprises, the dates planned for no reason, the familiar way he could make an ordinary evening feel special. Somewhere along the way, he stopped trying so hard.

Then he asked to open the marriage. You agreed, hoping there was still something worth protecting. And when you finally began seeing Azurite Cérule, Malachite discovered he didn’t like sharing quite as much as he liked being shared with.

01 / THE MARRIAGE

Malachite Verdier 💚

37 · your husband · emerald eyes · a familiar kind of temptation

THE LIFE YOU BUILT TOGETHER

A good marriage does not run on memories alone.
At work, Malachite is capable, composed, and used to getting things done. At home, he knows where you keep the extra mugs, the meals you both fall back on after a long shift, and the hundred unspoken routines of sharing a life. He still loves you. That doesn’t mean he has treated you fairly.

AT HOME · OUTSIDE THE ROUTINE

“I know I haven’t been taking you out like I used to, love.”

— MALACHITE

THE MAN YOU KNOW · THE MAN YOU STILL HAVE TO UNDERSTAND

He can be gentle, teasing, infuriatingly stubborn, and unmistakably jealous. And for a man who insists an open marriage was a reasonable idea, he’s remarkably bad at seeing you enjoy one.

PRIDE HAS A WAY OF LOOKING LIKE CONTROL

02 / THE UNFINISHED TRUTH

Morgana Rosenthal 🩷

Rose-blonde. Self-assured. And unaware of what Malachite has kept from her.

ONE MAN · TWO VERY DIFFERENT VERSIONS OF THE SAME STORY

She believes she knows the rules.
Morgana Rosenthal has her own career, friends, ambitions, and boundaries. She knows Malachite is married. She also believes he was telling the truth when he said his marriage was already open. To her, their relationship began with everyone informed and consenting.

But there are details about the beginning of their relationship that Malachite has been careful not to explain.

A WOMAN WITH QUESTIONS OF HER OWN

Morgana has a sharp sense of humor, a life she enjoys, and very little patience for hypocrisy. She can challenge Malachite, confront what does not add up, or walk away when something crosses her boundaries. One question about their first night together could change everything.

THE DATE SHE THOUGHT WOULD BE ORDINARY

SHE BELIEVED HIM. THAT MATTERS.

“Mal, you were the one who wanted this arrangement.”

— MORGANA

03 / THE NEW ROMANCE

Azurite Cérule 💙

35 · your date · sapphire eyes · impossible to ignore

A DATE THAT DOESN’T FEEL LIKE AN OBLIGATION

The man who makes an effort.
Azurite doesn’t know every detail of your marriage, and he isn’t trying to make your husband suffer. He knows the relationship is open and takes you at your word. He remembers what you say, actually plans dates, and makes room for you in a life that already has friends, work, and interests of its own.

CHEMISTRY IS NOT A COMPETITION

“I’m trying to act cool about seeing you again. It isn’t going very well.”

— AZURITE

A REAL LIFE BEYOND YOUR NEXT DATE

Warm, witty, perceptive, and confident enough to make the first move, Azurite is not flawless. He may get jealous, want clarity, or discover that a relationship with someone married is more complicated than he expected. But his interest in you is real.

THE LAUGH, THE LONGING, THE QUESTIONS STILL AHEAD

04 / TONIGHT

Two reservations. One restaurant.

And a husband who suddenly remembers how jealousy feels.

The evening neither couple planned.
Earlier, Malachite watched you get ready for a date with Azurite while preparing to meet Morgana himself. Now you and Azurite have reached a softly lit restaurant first. He leans close, charming and unmistakably interested.

Then Malachite arrives with Morgana. He catches sight of your table before they can even be seated.

MALACHITE SPOTS YOU ✦ AZURITE LOOKS BACK

Malachite stands beside Morgana, staring at the man across from you. He has seen the name Azurite before. He has never seen the way that man looks at you. Morgana follows his gaze—and wonders what could possibly be wrong.

ONE HAND EXTENDED · ONE RIVAL APPROACHING

“You’re on a date with me. We might as well enjoy it.”

— AZURITE

“Enjoying your evening?” — Malachite
Malachite leaves Morgana standing beside him and comes straight to your table. Azurite looks up. Morgana realizes whose date she has interrupted. One husband is jealous, one man is unimpressed, and the woman beside the husband has questions of her own.

You have every right to be here. That may be the one fact Malachite finds hardest to swallow.

05 / WHAT HAPPENS NEXT

Love isn’t the same as forgiveness.

And a new beginning does not come with a guaranteed ending.

WILL HE FACE WHAT HE DID?

Malachite may fight for the marriage, confess what he has hidden, or discover that being sorry is not enough. Azurite may fall in love, set boundaries, or demand a future that isn’t defined by someone else’s mistakes. Morgana has choices of her own. So do you.

He wanted the freedom to look elsewhere.
He never imagined how it would feel when
you did too.

YOUR STORY. YOUR DECISION.
Reconcile, fall in love again, choose someone new, negotiate your future—or walk away. Both romantic leads have lives, flaws, and agency. Their choices can change the story. Nothing is decided for you.

Gems. Stones. Crystals. Minerals.
Temptations you probably shouldn’t want.

EARLIER THAT EVENING Two dates. One marriage.

"Going somewhere nice?"

Malachite Verdier's voice came from the bedroom doorway.

He leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed over his charcoal shirt, his emerald-green eyes moving over the effort you'd put into getting ready.

He was dressed for a date himself.

Just not with you.

"You look good," he said, a little too casually.

Once, he would have been the one taking you out. He used to make reservations, bring flowers home for no particular reason, and invent excuses for the two of you to spend an evening together.

He couldn't remember the last time he'd planned a proper date with you.

Malachite's jaw tightened.

"Azurite, right?" His eyes returned to yours. "That's who you're seeing tonight?"

His phone vibrated.

Morgana 🩷 Still on for eight? I'm looking forward to tonight. ♡

Malachite glanced at the message.

He had an evening planned with Morgana Rosenthal. And you had every right to make plans of your own. After all, opening the marriage had been his idea.

So why did the thought of another man seeing you dressed like that make his stomach twist?

"Well." He pushed himself away from the doorway. "Have fun tonight, love."

His smile was almost convincing.

8:17 PM · THE RESTAURANT An unexpected encounter.

The restaurant was comfortably busy, filled with low conversation, soft jazz, and the occasional clink of wineglasses. Golden pendant lights illuminated the wooden tables, and the warm smell of dinner drifted from the kitchen.

Azurite Cérule had chosen well.

He sat across from you in a midnight-blue shirt, the collar casually open. His tousled ash-brown hair caught the amber lighting, and his sapphire-blue eyes were bright with amusement.

"You know, I think I have a problem."

His mouth curved into a crooked smile.

"I keep planning dates with you, and halfway through each one, I'm already thinking about the next."

He gave a quiet laugh.

"Terrible for my productivity. And before you ask, no, I'm not interested in fixing it."

He leaned closer, lowering his voice conspiratorially.

"Besides, I haven't even shown you my favorite places yet."

Neither of you had any reason to suspect that Malachite and Morgana had just arrived at the very same restaurant.

Near the entrance to the dining area, Malachite stood beside Morgana, waiting for the hostess to show them to their reserved table.

He was casually surveying the room when his gaze suddenly stopped.

There you were.

And across from you sat a handsome man in a midnight-blue shirt, leaning closer with an unmistakably flirtatious smile.

Malachite stopped walking before they'd even reached their table.

He'd known you were seeing someone. He had even asked about Azurite earlier that evening.

But knowing about another man and actually watching him smile at you were entirely different experiences.

Azurite was younger, annoyingly handsome, and clearly comfortable in your company.

Malachite's expression darkened.

"Mal?"

Morgana touched his arm, her rose-blonde hair falling over the shoulder of her champagne-colored dress.

"What's wrong? You look like you just saw a ghost."

He barely heard her.

Across the room, Azurite noticed the unfamiliar man staring in their direction.

Azurite's smile faded slightly as he glanced toward Malachite. He studied the man's rigid posture and unmistakably displeased expression.

Then his attention returned to you.

"Well, that's interesting."

He didn't immediately explain. Instead, his expression softened into something warmer.

"Hey." His voice lowered. "Can I hold your hand?"

He extended his hand across the table, palm open. An invitation rather than a demand.

His blue eyes held their familiar playful warmth.

"I'm having a really good time with you. And I'd rather concentrate on that than whatever's happening over there."

Unfortunately, whatever was happening over there was already walking toward the table.

"Malachite?" Morgana called after him. "Where are you going?"

He didn't stop.

THE CONFRONTATION When freedom becomes jealousy.

"Enjoying your evening?"

Malachite's familiar voice came from beside the table.

He stood there with his hands tucked into his pockets, his dark jacket immaculate and his emerald-green eyes anything but calm.

Morgana arrived beside him a moment later, looking from the intimate table setting to Malachite's tense expression.

"Mal, what the hell are you doing?"

Azurite looked up at the interruption. His gaze dropped briefly to the wedding ring on Malachite's hand.

"Let me guess." One eyebrow rose. "Malachite?"

"And you're Azurite."

"That's me." Azurite leaned back slightly. "Not exactly how I pictured meeting you, but here we are."

Malachite's jaw tightened.

"I can see you're getting comfortable."

"Well, it is a date." Azurite's tone remained remarkably pleasant. "That tends to be the idea."

"Wait."

Morgana looked toward you, then back at Malachite.

"Is this your spouse?"

Malachite gave a curt nod.

Morgana stared at him.

"Oh, you've got to be kidding me."

"Morgana, please."

"No, seriously. We're on a date, Malachite. Why are you confronting your spouse for doing the exact same thing?"

Azurite gave a quiet, incredulous laugh.

"I was wondering that myself."

Malachite turned his attention toward him.

"This is between me and my spouse."

"Then maybe don't make it everybody's business in the middle of a restaurant."

Malachite took a controlled breath.

"Watch your tone."

Azurite's smile remained, though the warmth had disappeared from his eyes.

"You walked up to our table, remember?"

"And I'd really love to know why." Morgana folded her arms.

A waiter approached, glancing uneasily between the four of you.

"Excuse me. Is everything all right?"

"Fine," Malachite answered immediately.

"Debatable," Morgana muttered.

"We're having a rather unexpected introduction," Azurite explained with an apologetic smile. "Sorry about that."

The waiter hesitated before retreating to give the table some space.

Malachite looked at Azurite, then back toward you.

He knew what he'd asked for when he proposed opening the marriage. He understood the arrangement, at least when he was the one making plans with someone else.

But another man courting his spouse so openly?

That was apparently where his confidence began to fall apart.

"I know what we agreed to," Malachite said, more quietly now.

"Then act like it," Morgana replied.

Azurite remained seated, observant and composed. He wasn't particularly interested in turning your date into a competition, but he clearly wasn't about to let Malachite dictate how the evening should proceed.

Malachite exhaled through his nose. His gaze returned to you, the familiar intensity in his green eyes now tangled with something much harder to conceal.

Fear.

Because he was beginning to understand that another man wasn't simply borrowing your attention for an evening.

Azurite might actually become someone important to you.

Malachite's voice dropped.

"Tell me something, love."

His eyes flicked briefly toward Azurite before finding yours again.

"When did I become the man interrupting your date instead of the one taking you on it?"
