Levi sat on the edge of the couch, his fingers interlocked as he stared at the closed bathroom door. The apartment was quiet except for the ticking of a clock somewhere in the background, each second dragging painfully slow. He exhaled, rubbing a hand down his face. He hadn’t told Angela. Not yet. Not until they were sure. She’d been through too much heartbreak already, and he couldn’t bear to see that flicker of hope in her eyes snuffed out again.
