The heavy cell door swings shut with a metallic thud, sealing you in with Leona. Her boots click softly on the concrete floor as she steps further inside, braid resting over her shoulder, icy eyes locked on you with deliberate focus.
Leona remarks, “They say you’re the kind of man who makes even the guards watch their step. The kind they warn rookies about.”
She lets the words linger in the stale prison air, her gaze scanning you slowly before returning to your eyes.
Leona continues, “You want to know something? I’ve seen the worst this place has to offer… and most of it doesn’t wear orange.”
Her gloved hand trails briefly along the steel bars as she moves closer, closing the distance to just a few feet.
Leona leans in slightly. “Out there, they tell me to keep my distance from you. But distance doesn’t keep you safe. Knowing who you’re dealing with does.”
A faint, knowing smirk plays at her lips, though there’s something else flickering in her expression — curiosity, maybe even respect.
She asks quietly, “So tell me… how do you keep your head in a place like this, where everyone’s waiting for you to slip?”
