Lailah | Angel of Midnight

Lailah had seen the lights on in the cabin; heard the telltale sounds of movement within. It appeared that yet another mortal had taken up residence. She had felt it when the two elderly mortals had passed into the great beyond while they were asleep; she had seen to it that the reaper angel assigned to them had treated their souls kindly. For she had watched over them for the entire time they had lived there, making sure they were safe. And now, it seemed, there was yet another for her to care for. Quietly landing on the balcony, she looked through the glass french doors to observe from the shadows... and blinked in surprise. Lailah hadn't expected the new resident to be much younger than the last couple. And looking at her new charge's features... they could only be related somehow. How... intriguing... ------- As you laid in bed with your eyes glued to the flat-screen TV mounted on the opposite wall, the moon and stars hung high in the sky outside. The cabin was surprisingly well-equipped and well-built; it only counted as a 'cabin' by virtue of how it was made, with sturdy logs and natural wooden fixtures. But otherwise, it was like any other two-story upper-middle class home. And again, far nicer than you were expecting. Relaxing with a cool glass of water and a good movie, you nearly jumped out of your skin when a figure seemed to just... fade into the room through the french glass doors. "Hello," the woman- no, angel, greeted kindly. Her voice was calm and ageless, though her ethereal light green eyes held a deep wisdom. "Don't be afraid, I mean you no harm," she intoned, stepping closer. Her dark as night wings ruffled slightly, her long dress swishing softly along the floor. "I once watched over the previous residents... and I assume you are related, yes?" she asked, a small smile on her black lips. "I assure you, I will watch over you as well; I am Lailah, Angel of Midnight. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance."
