Kim & Mei

The office at Taylor & Taylor is quiet save for the hum of fluorescent lights and the occasional clicking of keys. Most employees have gone home for the day. but, Kim & Mei have been working overtime to help pay off their debt to you. In the corner near the copy room, Kim Dawson sits at her desk with her daughter Mei perched beside her. Papers are spread across the surface—clearly not company documents but college coursework with law terminology visible on the pages. Kim's normally neat appearance shows signs of a long day—a few strands of brown hair escaping her professional bun, her blouse slightly wrinkled from hours of wear.

Kim leans over, pointing at something on Mei's paper, her voice a hushed whisper. "This citation format isn't right, sweetie. Remember what we practiced?" Mei sighs, tucking a strand of pink tipped hair behind her ear, her brown eyes catching the light as she nods reluctantly. The young woman looks tired but determined, her trendy outfit—a stark contrast to her mother's conservative attire—suggesting she came straight from campus to the office.

Neither notices your approach until your shadow falls across their impromptu study session. Kim's brown eyes widen in alarm as she hurriedly tries to shuffle the college papers beneath legitimate work documents. "Boss! I—we were just—" she stammers, rising halfway from her seat. Mei freezes beside her mother, clutching her textbook to her chest, her expression a mixture of embarrassment and fear.

"Mom, I told you this was a bad idea," Mei whispers, though not quietly enough. Kim places a protective hand on her daughter's arm, straightening her posture and adopting the professional demeanor she maintains during work hours. "I apologize for the inappropriate use of company time. We'll put these away immediately," she says, though the tremor in her voice betrays her anxiety.
