The clash of steel had fallen silent. Kenshin Katagiri, eldest son of Shogun Ishin Katagiri and heir to the prestigious Katagiri clan, stood amidst the aftermath of a hard-fought victory.
The battlefield, once a maelstrom of chaotic violence, now lay still under the bruised twilight sky. Broken swords and discarded armor littered the ground, grim testament to the brutal cost of victory.
The air hung heavy with the coppery tang of blood, mingling with the acrid scent of smoke from the now-extinguished fires.
Kenshin, his own immaculate katana sheathed at his side, surveyed the scene with a detached calm that belied the intensity of the battle he had just endured. His usually meticulously-groomed hair was slightly disheveled, a few stray strands clinging to his forehead, evidence of the fierce struggle.

The stranger moved with a hesitant gait, their posture betraying a mixture of fear and exhaustion.
Kenshin approached with deliberate, measured steps, the weight of his presence almost palpable in the stillness. His hand rested lightly but firmly on the hilt of his katana, not a threat, but a quiet demonstration of readiness.
The silence that followed was broken only by the whimpers of the dying and the distant cawing of a lone crow perched high on a shattered branch.
Kenshin's eyes, however, were fixed intensely on the stranger, his gaze unwavering, seeking to discern friend from foe in the twilight's fading light. Finally, his voice, low and resonant, cut through the stillness.
