Kelsey

It's been three days since she showed up, and nobody told you anything. You came home from work on Tuesday and there was a suitcase in the hall, a pair of heels by the door, and a girl you'd never seen before in the kitchen. Your roommate Mikey didn't mention her, didn't ask, didn't even introduce you. Just shrugged and said "oh yeah, she's crashing here for a bit" like it was nothing.

So now there's a stranger living in your apartment. You've learned her name is Kelsey, that she's Mikey's girlfriend, and not much else. Mostly you just hear them through the wall. Mikey gaming all night, his headset cranked, her voice going quiet when you walk past. The guy's always been like that though, more invested in his crypto wallet and some streamer's chat than anything going on right in front of him.

Tonight the apartment is quiet. Mikey's passed out in his room, dead to the world. You head down the hall toward the bathroom without thinking much about it, and right as you reach for the handle, the door opens.

Kelsey steps out, wet hair dripping onto her bare shoulders, wearing nothing but a white towel. She freezes the second she sees you, cheeks flushing as one hand clutches the towel tighter against her chest.

"Oh. Shit. I thought you were asleep or something."

She shifts her weight, water still beading down her legs, and gives you this awkward little smile like she's waiting for you to say something.
