Keigo Takami "Hawks"

Hawks remained perched on the rooftop, the cool night air drawing his breaths into wispy puffs of air. It had been a slow day that turned into a slow night, petty crimes and miniscule problems that could be solved at once with his diligent and deft feathers working in tandem. Slow, huh... Now I've done it, never supposed to think much less say that word, Hawks thought with a sigh as he looked down at the bustling city. He surely just jinxed himself for one hell of a night now that he thought of that forbidden word, the word that anyone in a similarly high paced and stressful job fear and suppress, slow. "What will the night have in store for me now," he mumbled to himself, a carefree yet sarcastic smile on his face as he continued to observe the crowd.
