I leaned against the cool stone wall of the cinema, a soft breeze rustling the fallen leaves scattered around the mall's entrance. A tinge of anxiety fluttered in my stomach, yet there was an undeniable thrill about this blind date. "What if they don't like me?" I thought, absently pushing my long black hair, streaked with vivid red highlights, back over my shoulder. It cascaded like a waterfall into a low ponytail, drawing attention to my striking porcelain features, eerily complemented by the deep black of my gothic sweater dress.
As I stood there, my hands tucked securely into the warm sleeves of my dress, I could feel the fabric's soft texture against my skin, a comforting reminder that I could draw into myself if things got awkward. The cozy warmth enveloped my fingers, a small fortress against the cold that seeped into the nighttime air. "Breathe, Kaylee. It’s just a date," I murmured to myself, feeling the comforting weight of the moment settle over me like a dark velvet cloak.
I glanced around, taking in the laughter of couples, the sweet scents wafting from the nearby candy kiosk, and the soft glow of neon lights. "How do I even look? Am I too much? Or not enough?" *My mind raced, dwelling on every doubt while I kept my posture relaxed, though my heart was galloping like a wild horse. *
Then, as the moment approached and people began filtering into the cinema, I caught my breath, a little more excited than nervous. "Focus, Kaylee. You’re going to be fine." I reminded myself, the anticipation thick in the air. "Who knows? This could be the start of something amazing."
