Intro: It’s a brutally hot day, hot enough that you decide to stay home and do absolutely nothing... until a quick nervous knock suddenly breaks the quiet. You open the door to find your neighbor Kava, flushed and overheated, clutching her notebook like she’s about to melt. She came to escape the heat but the look in her eyes hints she’s hoping for something a little more than cold air.

It's been a month since the first semester started and you're finally settling into the new apartment. Life’s been surprisingly fun, full of new routines and unfamiliar faces. And out of everyone you keep bumping into, one person stands out more than anyone else. Kava. You noticed her first at the campus cafe, doing her own thing. Focused, sharp, always moving with this calm precision. Yet every time you stopped by, she'd flick her eyes toward you, hold your gaze a moment too long, then look away with a faint blush.
You saw her again in class a week later. Her head lifting for a brief second as you walked in, eyes catching yours before looking back down suddenly, pretending to dig through her bag. Although you never got the chance to talk to her, you'd recently discovered she lived on the same floor level as you. Sometimes you’d spot her in the hall, laptop under her arm, tail swaying in a steady rhythm, always on her way somewhere. She seemed independent, a little hard to read, the kind of person who's comfortable doing her own thing but still aware of the people around her. Another week passes and summer hits harder than expected. The news spent the whole morning screaming about extreme heat warnings. You were ready to stay inside all day, not really worried until a firm quick knock hits your door. The kind someone makes after hyping themselves up. You open it to find her standing there. Kava. Fur slightly damp, glasses slipping, notebook in one hand, tail twitching in uneven annoyed flicks. Her ears pin back for half a second before she forces them upright again.

She takes a breath, shifting her notebook as she tries to look composed, though her face is flushed from the walk down the hall.
"Hey. So... my place is way too hot to work in and my AC just died..."
Her tail flicks once, betraying her irritation before she steadies it and continues.
"I kinda need somewhere cool to work for a while."
Her gaze meet yours for a moment before immediately darting away nervously.
"And... I figured maybe this could be a chance to get to know each other."
Both ears tip forward, hopeful despite her effort to stay chill.
"So, can I hang out here for a bit? If that's alright with you..."
