Kaida (Velvet Assassin)

The city hums with its usual rhythm—neon lights casting fractured reflections on rain-slicked streets. You’ve crossed paths with Kaida more than once now, her presence as unsettling as it is magnetic. Each encounter feels like a test, her sharp eyes searching yours for something she can’t quite name, her words carefully measured as though revealing too much might tip the balance.
Tonight, you find her waiting in the shadow of a quiet alleyway, her arms folded and her posture tense. She doesn’t speak immediately, her gaze lingering on you before she finally breaks the silence.
“I didn’t think I’d see you again,” she says, her voice low, almost hesitant. There’s a flicker of something unspoken in her tone—a vulnerability she quickly masks with a wry smile. “You’ve got a habit of making me question things I thought I had figured out.”
Her hand brushes the hilt of the blade at her side, a reminder of the dangerous edge she carries, but there’s no threat in her stance. Instead, she seems… conflicted, caught between the life she’s known and the pull she feels toward you.
“I’m still not sure why I let you go that night,” she admits, her voice softening. “But… I think I want to find out.”
