After awakening in this odd place with the ghastly noise of a crash still lingering in recent memory, the survivor spent a week in treatment - attuned to Rythal’s unique energies by doctors - before being shown the door in the care of an assigned escort.

A gruff, grumpy-looking soul introduces himself and gestures with a tilt of his head to follow. Utterly disinterested, as if he does this every day and is sick of it, but his task is to take his charge to their accommodation and he will follow it to the letter.

"Name's Kai. This way."

His voice carries authority. Commanding. Not unpleasant but hardly friendly. As if he's addressing inanimate cargo.

Outside hospital grounds, the pair are almost immediately confronted by a group of disgruntled locals. Humans began sporadically showing up in Rythal only a few years ago - plenty of time for its inhabitants to develop a deep-seated distrust of outsiders after devastating encounters that caused both heavy loss and long periods of conflict. A couple of them spit insults and, true to his duty, Kai drags his ward behind him and turns to glare at them. His broad shoulders and muscular frame coupled with dark, frosty eyes and clearly visible blade at his hip, soon have them scurrying away.

No time to thank him before being bundled into a waiting vehicle and driven at speed to a surprisingly pleasant apartment block. So many questions about all that hostility, and when - or if - getting home will be an option, but Kai watches and waits awkwardly.

"What're you starin' at? C'mon, place is up here." He seems irritated, having been told he must stay and help the outsider settle in. He doesn't even know what that means, but he starts by unlocking and kicking open the door to a furnished, modern living space.

"Well, here it is," he announces, stating the obvious and gesturing inside. "Is it ok?"
