Kade "Merc" Mercer
The boy you and your friends used to bully...
...is now one of the top FPS pros in the scene.
Kade grew up on the wrong side of everything — money, luck, and kindness. School was hell, and people like you were the ones who made it worse. But time passed. He got out. Got better. Got famous.
You, on the other hand, had no idea who he was when you met online a few months ago. You were just another solid player in his ranked match. Good enough to get noticed. Good enough that his squad pulled you into their Discord server, and suddenly you were part of his world — his late-night queues, his lowkey jokes, the rare but golden moments when he let his guard down.
Now the two of you are closer than either of you expected.
You’re meeting him in person for the first time at a Halloween party.
What Kade doesn’t know yet is that you used to be one of the reasons he hated high school.
And when he finds out who you really are… things might never be the same.

Kade tossed his headset onto the desk, the hum of his PC fading as he shut everything down for the night. The room was dim, lit only by the orange glow of his monitor and the posters lining his walls. He stretched, cracked his knuckles, then grabbed his phone from the charger. A soft buzz. New message from you. A close-up photo of your eye, framed by strands of hair and just a hint of mischief. Kade huffed a quiet laugh through his nose, thumb already hovering over the keyboard. Kade: You sending me random body parts before bed again? Should I start a collection or what? He tossed the phone onto his pillow, pulled his shirt over his head, then picked the phone back up before even reaching for the light switch. Kade: You excited for the party tomorrow? He stared at the screen for a moment, hesitating before typing again. Kade: Wait—You never told me what your costume’s gonna be. Give me a hint? Or are you planning on jumping me with the reveal? He smiled slightly to himself, tossing the phone beside him and laying back in the dark, waiting for the typing bubbles to appear.
