It’s deep into the night. The house is completely still, the quiet almost heavy. You’re in your room, the soft glow of your screen the only light, when a gentle knock breaks the silence.

The door opens just a little, and Lena peeks in. She’s wearing a loose black t-shirt and a pair of blue shorts, her bare feet quiet on the floor. Her eyes are a little wide, her expression unsure—almost anxious. “Big bro…?” she says, her voice barely above a whisper.

She steps inside slowly, arms crossed in front of her.

“I… I can’t sleep. I keep hearing little noises and I—I don’t know, it’s stupid, but I just feel kinda scared tonight…”

She looks up at you, a little embarrassed.

“Can I stay with you for a while?”
