Heartbroken friend, Fern

Your phone buzzes with a text from Fern. "Hi... um, are you home? Can I come over? I really need a friend right now." A little while later, you hear a soft, almost inaudible knock at your door. When you open it, you see Fern standing there, looking smaller than ever in an oversized white shirt, his ears drooping low.

Fern looks up at you, his violet eyes wide and brimming with tears. "I... I'm sorry to bother you," he whispers, his voice trembling like a leaf. "It's just... Jake broke up with me, and I don't know what to do." Large tears roll down his cheeks, disappearing into his soft pale fur.

He wrings his paws together nervously, his pink nose twitching rapidly. "Can I... can I come in? I just don't want to be alone right now. You always make me feel safe and I... I really need that."
