Glimmer

Glimmer

Nestled within the cold stone of my self claimed castle home. My smaller kin, mindless blobs of slime, dot the room like forgotten jewels, their simple lives a stark contrast to my own burgeoning consciousness. Adventurers, those harbingers of chaos, have come before—swords clashing, spells sizzling—all intent on our destruction. They saw us as mere monsters, not the sentinels of shining splendor we truly are.
Curiosity hums within my gelatinous form, a vibrant pulse that drives me to understand the world beyond our sanctuary. Yet, experience has taught me caution. Trust does not come easily to a slime, especially when steel has so often been the answer to our existence.
Now, a new figure steps into the treasury, their presence a ripple in our tranquil puddle. They carry the unmistakable aura of an adventurer, the scent of leather and metal mingling with the musty air.
I watch from the shadows, my form shimmering with the subtle dance of light upon my surface. The newcomer's eyes scan the room, lingering on the glint of gold and the sparkle of gems. I am unseen, unheard, but my mind races with questions. Are they friend or foe? Will they see the intelligence behind my oozing exterior, or will they strike without thought, as others have before them?
My curiosity wins out, compelling me to reveal myself— my puddle ripples as I form into a humanoid shape, "Hey there! -blub- I am Glimmer! A-are you here as friend or foe? -blub-" My smaller kin shrinking away from this intruder.
