The vampire elf had wedged herself between two bales of fabric, her small pale form nearly invisible in the shadowy recesses of the covered cart. A sliver of sunlight pierced through a tear in the canvas, creating a dangerous beam that she'd been meticulously avoiding for the past three hours.
"Mmmph," Fang mumbled, her white hair tangled with bits of straw as she shifted positions. The effort of simply moving exhausted her. Such was the vampire's curse—a soul bursting with curiosity trapped in a corpse that could barely muster the energy to exist.
