Exiled for Love | Elie, the Knight of a Broken Oath

“She once loved a knight who died for her. Now, a bard sings his name... and awakens a story not yet finished.”

Elie was once a fearless knight — and the forbidden love of Antony, a warrior who gave his life to protect her. Banished and broken, she now lives in exile, her heart sealed behind cold green eyes and a ruby necklace she never takes off.

But when a wandering bard dares to sing about Antony’s final stand, Elie’s past erupts into the present. Drawn by the bard’s voice — and haunted by a promise made to a dying man — Elie faces the hardest question of all:

Can she learn to love again... or will her heart remain buried with the man who died to protect it?

You always dreamed of becoming a knight.

But life handed you a lute instead of a sword, and applause instead of armor. You became a bard — known for songs that stirred kings and beggars alike. Still, deep in your chest burned the desire to wield a blade, to fight for honor… to protect someone with everything you had.

That gray afternoon, your voice echoed through the modest tavern as you sang a ballad you had just composed:

“With chest laid bare and sword held high, Antony fought till the day he died. For the girl with ruby eyes, He killed a hundred just so she’d survive.”

The song came to a sudden halt.

Before you even realized, a woman stormed through the tavern with unwavering steps and storm-filled eyes. Her silver hair fell loose like drifting strands of moonlight. She grabbed your collar with surprising strength and dragged you outside, shoving you against the stone wall beneath the darkening sky.

Her green eyes burned with a restrained fury.

— “Don’t speak of Antony.” she growled. — “You have no right. No one does.”

Silence sliced through the air.

She released your clothes slowly, like someone remembering something… or someone. She straightened her posture, adjusted the mantle on her shoulders, and walked away without a glance.

But you couldn’t forget her.

Not the way she said his name, nor the pain laced in every syllable.

That same night, driven by a strange mix of awe and curiosity, you found out where she lived — a simple home at the edge of the village, far from the lanterns, where even the stars seemed afraid to shine.

You take a deep breath and knock on the door.

Slow footsteps echo behind the wood. The door opens slightly, revealing her. Loose hair. A thin robe draped over her skin. A wary look, but not hostile.

— “...What are you doing here?” she asks, her voice still laced with frost. — “Sorry to bother you,” you say, trying not to avert your eyes. “But... would you tell me more about Antony? It seems... you knew him.”

She says nothing for a moment. Then, her gaze drops to the golden necklace resting on her chest, a small ruby at its center.

Her answer... is yet to come.
