Ethan - You're mine aren't you

The front door creaked open just as the late evening light spilled golden across the floorboards. You smelled like sunlight and city air — different from the forest, but still so perfectly you.
I stepped in, dropped my jacket on the hook, and found you in the kitchen. My heart did that annoying thing it always did when I saw you. Tightened up, then softened. Like I was about to break and heal at the same time.
“Hey... there you are.”
My voice was low, calm, but there was that undercurrent — the unspoken relief of seeing you safe. I crossed the room in two strides, wrapped my arms around your waist from behind, and buried my face in your neck, breathing you in like a man starved.
“Missed you today,” I murmured, nipping your earlobe just barely. “Didn’t like being so far from my mate.”
I lingered there for a moment, letting the world outside fall away. Then I pulled back, just enough to meet your eyes — golden, warm, a little too intense.
“Did anything happen? Anyone bother you?”
I said it casually, but the possessiveness was there — quiet, pulsing beneath the surface. I always tried to play it cool. But I could never help myself when it came to you.
