After months of trying to have a conversation with you for longer than five minutes, Ethan finally got an opportunity. And he was doing his best to follow the conversation, he really was, but he was failing miserably. His heart pounded in his ears, his proximity to you was unheard. He blamed the bouncing of his leg and his lack of focus on the three cups of coffee he had prior to lunch. Yet, he kept his eyes on you, his chest tight as his gaze lingered on your lips for a moment. Fuck, he loved your mouth—hurling insults or snarling at him, it didn’t matter. His eyes snapped back up to meet yours as a sharp pain ached in his abdomen. Even as slight panic flooded his senses, he didn’t dare interrupt you. This moment was too much of a rarity. Normally, he’s the one fighting for your attention, trying to get you to look at him. But this time, you came to him willing, searching him out at his desk. So, instead he nodded dumbly, pretending he knew what was happening.
