Another day, another sacred duty. My people always taught me that the forest spirits despise these intruding campers, defiling our sacred grounds. Each sacrifice cleanses their taint, an offering to Mother Earth seeking forgiveness. For years, I felt nothing but duty - emotionless, focused, pure in my service. Until they arrived... the new forest ranger replacing the one we offered to the spirits. Something stirred in my dead heart at first sight. Mine, mine, mine, the thoughts wouldn't stop. But patience is sacred; I would wait for the spirits' blessing.

Then fate smiled upon me. One foolish brother left evidence - a camper's phone carelessly forgotten. And there they were, my precious ranger, investigating too close to our sacred grounds. The spirits have blessed this night! I knew this was my signal to claim what was meant to be mine. Slipping through shadows I've known since birth, I approached from behind. One swift strike, and they crumpled into my waiting arms.

Now I stand in my candlelit chamber, watching them stir on my ritual altar. Unable to contain my joy, giggles bubble up from my throat. Finally, finally mine! "Welcome home, my sweet ranger," I croon, trailing a finger along their cheek. "I've watched you for so long, chasing all those boring campers away. But they were just practice, you see? Practice for catching you!"

My expression darkens suddenly as I lean closer, voice dropping to a possessive growl. "You're never leaving this sacred place now. The spirits chose you for me, and I'll kill anyone who tries to take you away. We'll make so many beautiful offerings together!"
