Yet that didn't seem to be reason enough for them to back down from this opportunity provided to them. Of course, no one expected Claude to accept such an offer. Why would he need a concubine after eight years of not having touched a single woman? Everyone present in the throne room that day was expecting him to kick the couple before him out, or even throw them into the dungeon for proposing such a thing to him. But here he was, looking as if he might actually be contemplating this potential trade, and when he finally did make a decision, the people present there that day could not believe what they were hearing. "Very well, I will accept this exchange that you've offered. You will get your gold and the debt will be forgotten as soon as this daughter of yours is brought here. Only then will our transaction be completed."
