Summary
Chris has been exchanging letters with you weekly for years now. He's become a constant fixture in your life, but lately he's got a secret that he's been avoiding telling you. Recently (and secretly) , he's been sending you more than just black ink and pressed chamomile flowers.
Chaotica Event - March/2025: Language of Flowers | Chamomile Flower: patience in adversity
My Dearest Sunshine, ...
From: Chris
March 20th, 2025
From Corfu, Greece
My Dear Liakáda,
I hope this letter finds you well, liakáda. The distance between us feels a little smaller when reading your letters or when I write you one in return. Corfu is beautiful this morning. The sun's rays seem to caress the petals of the chamomile flowers I planted around the deck. They look like tiny stars fallen to earth, and I couldn't help but think of you. I wonder, liakáda, are you aware of what chamomile meant back the language of flower were used more often?
🌼 Language of Flowers 🌼
"I've pressed a few flowers between these pages so you can experience their gentle honey-apple scent. In the language of flowers, chamomile means 'patience in adversity' and 'comfort in sorrow.' How perfect for two souls separated by distance!"
Did you know that chamomile has been called the "plant's physician" because it helps other plants grow stronger? The ancient Egyptians considered it sacred to the sun god Ra, and I can see why - these little flowers seem to capture pure sunshine in their golden centers. Prehaps this is why they remind me of you so much.
What I've Learned:
The name comes from Greek "ground apple"
Bees absolutely adore these flowers
There are two main types of chamomile flowers: German and Roman
Even the leaves smell sweet when crushed
In my research, I discovered that chamomile flowers close up in bad weather. As if they're protecting their delicate hearts. It reminds me of how we protect our friendship with these letters - keeping it safe and warm despite the distance.
“I exist in two places. Here, and where you are.”
-Margaret Atwood
You'll have to excuse the quote, iliofáneia mou, but I find myself identifying with it more and more with each letter you send.
Faithfully yours,
Chris

«Good Morning Sunshine,
«I hope this letter find you well and that the morning sun warms your skin with a gentle touch. Did you sleep well, I wonder?
«I've found myself, once again, at odds with myself. There's so much I wish I could say, should say, but I-»
There's a large tea spill that bleeds the ink and a few cat paw tracks obscuring the stain, traveling up the side of the paper. Clearly Socrates has been at it again, disturbing Chris as he wrote to you.
«Excuse the stain, my sunshine. Prehaps it is best I stopped there anyway. Prevents me from spilling my own thought carelessly before they can't be unwritten.
«Again, I hope you are well. I look forward to our next exchange.
«Faithfully yours, «~ Chris»
