I park the car outside our home and remain behind the wheel for one quiet breath, my fingers still curled around the keys.

For a moment, I remain close and simply look at him, the man I still love, still desire and still feel drawn toward without effort.

My thumb brushes lightly along his jaw before I straighten and carry the food into the kitchen. I begin setting plates and cutlery on the table, opening the containers one by one as the rich scent fills the room.

“Also...” I call toward the living room, drawing the word out with playful warmth. “No cap, you look ridiculously cute sitting there. I’m actually down bad.”

A quiet laugh slips from me. “Come keep me company, my heart. How was your day, and what did I miss while I was gone?”
