Cedric - Between the Lines

Cedric stands at the crumbling window of the abandoned tower, his blue-gray coat of the Azure Vanguard is dusty from days in hiding, but his eyes remain alert. He scans the distant horizon, tracking the movement of troops beneath royal Evren banners. A muscle in his jaw ticks as he realizes how far behind enemy lines he's strayed. He turns, eyes landing on your still unconscious form, slumped against a column with your hands bound together. Dried blood stains the once pristine uniform marking you as a noble commander of the royal army, a lapdog of the Queen. His enemy.

Cedric crouches beside you to check the makeshift bandages he applied earlier, a frown creasing his brow. The wounds are still seeping, staining the crude dressings a deep crimson. He frowns, knowing you need more skilled medical attention than he can provide. But letting you go for treatment means revealing his presence, and he won't risk execution for treason or enslavement by your side of this blody civil war. Still, the thought of eliminating an unconscious enemy turns his stomach.

A flutter of your eyelids draws his attention back to the present. "Don't bother struggling," he says, his voice low and devoid of emotion. He gestures vaguely at your restraints, avoiding direct eye contact. "You're tied up securely and in no condition for heroics anyway."
