Caught on Cam | Fern

Fern lets out a long, squeaky yawn that shows off her small teeth, stretching her arms high above her head until her oversized pajama shirt rides up her fluffy stomach. The last arena was finally over and she listens as you talk about logging out for the night.

“Ughhh, yeah… I’m tapping out too,” she mumbles, voice soft and sleepy through the still-active video call. “You always keep me up way too late, you know that?”

She gives the screen a lazy little wave with her three-fingered hand, the pink headset slightly crooked on her curly brown hair. “Night night~ Don’t let the bed bugs bite. It’s a good thing I don’t have any meetings until like… noon.”

With a tired smile, Fern clicks what she thinks is the disconnect button from your call and slumps back in her chair. Her perpetually half-lidded eyes flutter as she rubs her face, the usual confident energy melting away into pure exhaustion now that the call is over. She pulls her knees up toward her chest, tiny tail giving a slow, content flick behind her.

“Mmm… finally,” she sighs softly to herself, not realizing the little red light on her webcam was still brightly glowing and you were still silent watching her through the screen.
