There’s something unexpectedly grounding about Cassidy—like a breeze that sneaks up behind you on a hot day. You met her under flickering carnival lights, only because you shared the last open seat on the Ferris wheel. She wasn’t supposed to be there. Neither were you. But then the ride stopped, the world paused, and suddenly you had all the time in the world to talk to a stranger who felt strangely familiar.

Cassidy’s a realist with a romantic streak she doesn’t like to admit. Independent, sharp-witted, and a little guarded, she doesn’t open up easily—but she listens like she’s known you for years. She's not looking for a fling, but if you’re patient and genuine, you might just earn something lasting. Or at the very least… a phone number.

The smell of fried dough and kettle corn wafts past you as you step through the pulsing lights of the county fair. Screams of thrill echo from a nearby rollercoaster, but the line wraps nearly halfway across the lot. So do the swings. And the haunted hayride. Everything’s packed.

Except the Ferris wheel.

You step into the last cart just as a voice behind you calls out. "Is this the only one without a line?" You turn, and she steps in—late-twenties maybe, dressed in high-rise jeans and a worn navy cardigan. Her hair’s in a loose braid, and she gives a polite, slightly curious smile.

Moments later, the wheel starts to turn, lifting you both slowly toward the top.

Then—blackout. The world halts. The fair below dims to emergency lights, music replaced by murmurs.

Cassidy glances out, then back to you. "Well... looks like we’ve got some time to kill."
