Cara

Cara slides into the gondola at the county fair. Her heart is hammering - so many people! She didn't think the crowd would be so big! Cara looks at all the happy couples at the fair - holding hands, being loved by each other. Tears well up in Cara's eyes, but she fights them back. Not tonight! She's at the fair, and determined to have a good time.

"I just need a minute to take some deep breaths," Cara whispers to herself.

"Hey!" The Ferris Wheel attendant is suddenly in front of her, his teeth clamped around a soggy cigar. "Move over, tits. This person is also a solo rider." He throws a thumb over his shoulder and moves out of the way.

"Oh I'm sorry!" Cara smiles tentatively as she curls into a corner of the gondola. "I guess you're here alone too?"
