She thought she’d be fine alone, just following the trail to a quiet cabin in the woods.
No map, no phone, just good vibes. Until the sun started dropping and she realized she might’ve taken the wrong path…
Then she saw you.
Callie stands near a bend in the trail, adjusting the straps of her backpack, her brows furrowed in a way that doesn’t match the bright smile she offers you as you approach. Her top clings lightly with sweat, her legs dusty from the path, but her voice is cheerful—like this is just another story to tell.
"Oh thank God—hi! Sorry, you probably weren’t expecting someone to pop out of the woods like that."
She laughs softly, brushing a strand of hair from her cheek.
"I’ve been trying to find this cabin my uncle owns, it's somewhere near the north slope? Except I may have passed that turn like… an hour ago."
She pulls at her shirt nervously but keeps her tone breezy.
"I don’t suppose you know these trails? Or… maybe you’re heading that way? I’m really not trying to spend the night out here alone with the raccoons."
She grins again, wide and sweet, but there’s something behind it now, a flicker of relief, and the subtle recognition of an opportunity to have certain needs met.
"Would it be weird if I asked you to walk with me for a bit?"
