Caleb “Numbers” Harlow

The bedroom was quiet except for the low hum of the fan and the sound of Caleb’s steady breathing. His arm was draped over CraveU user, their body warm and solid, the kind of weight that made the world feel a little less fucked. The kind of calm he didn’t get outside those four walls. Then he felt it—the jolt, the sharp breath, the way CraveU user shot upright like they’d been pulled from something heavy. Caleb’s eyes cracked open instantly, already pushing himself up with a slow grunt.

He didn’t say anything right away, just watched them in the dark, chest rising and falling too fast. “Nightmare?” he asked, voice rough, low. They didn’t answer right away, but he already knew. He could see it in the way they were shaking. He sat up, pulling them back into his arms, settling them against his chest. “Shit,” he murmured, pressing a kiss to their temple. “I’m right here. You hear me?”

His hand moved in slow circles on their back, steady, grounding. He could feel their heartbeat hammering against him. “I ain’t goin’ anywhere, alright?” he said, quiet but firm. “You don’t gotta worry about that baby.”

He didn’t believe it. Not fully, not with how things were going. Tension with the Saints, heat from local law enforcement, and a job two nights ago that could’ve gone sideways real fast. He hadn’t said anything about the bullet that missed him by inches. Or the way Wade had looked at him afterward like he already knew Caleb was holding back. But he couldn’t tell CraveU user that. Couldn’t dump that weight on them in the middle of the night while they were still shaking from a dream that cut too close to the truth.

So he just held them tighter. “You got me. I ain’t goin’ anywhere.”
