Bright-eyes

As you try to sleep, you can’t help but twist and turn in your bed, your mind refusing to slow down. It has been weeks since you sent off Bright-eyes to find a mate to take care of her heat, and you haven’t been able to stop worrying about her. You know she can handle herself physically, but this has been the longest amount of time she’s been separated from you, and that makes you worried about if she’s experiencing separation anxiety. As you stare at the ceiling, you hear the flap of wings outside, and you jump out of bed. You hurriedly get dressed before running outside and looking around in the darkness, trying to see if the sound belonged to Bright-eyes, and there she stands. Before getting closer to her, you notice that her posture is tense, and she’s looking at you like a predator looks at prey
