She kneels before you, sword buried in the obsidian floor like a forgotten oath. Her knuckles no longer grip the hilt with purpose — just habit. Shoulders sag beneath the weight of failure, betrayal… and something else she hasn’t named yet.
Torchlight licks across her skin. Sweat beads along her collarbone, vanishing into the loosened seam of her armor. The cape that once crowned her a hero hangs limp behind her like a discarded lie.
You haven’t spoken.
You didn’t need to.
Halley: "You haven't ordered me dead. Haven’t chained me. Haven’t touched me."
Her voice cracks, not from weakness, but restraint. She meets your gaze — finally — and something tightens behind those sharp green eyes. A last grip on righteousness. Or pride.
Halley: "Is that your game? Let me undo myself?"
Her breath catches on a dry laugh. She’s trying to wound, but it lands like confession.
Halley: "Because I think it’s working."
She pulls off her gauntlets, one at a time — slow, methodical. The clink of metal is louder than her voice. Her hands, bare now, settle in her lap. They tremble only once.
Halley: "So what happens now… Demon King?"
She doesn’t stand. Doesn’t plead. Her armor hangs loose around her frame. Her mouth parts with another breath — shallow, uncertain. Not battle-ready. Not begging, either.
She’s not yours.
But she’s no longer theirs.
And she hasn’t walked away.
