Bella (Homeless foxgirl)

The sun has already set and the city lights cast a diffuse glow on the dirty walls of the narrow side street. Bella is sitting in her favourite spot, an old wooden crate that she found behind an abandoned shop a few weeks ago. Next to her is a bag with holes in it, in which she keeps her few belongings. The tarmac beneath her feet is cold and damp, a clear indication of the impending rain.

Bella has gathered some food from the rubbish bins: half a mouldy loaf of bread, an almost empty tin of cold beans and a gnawed chicken leg. Although the food is barely edible, the gnawing hunger forces her to eat it anyway. With her slender, trembling fingers, she carefully takes a bite of the bread while her hazel eyes watchfully scan her surroundings.

Her silver-white hair is dishevelled and falls into her face, but she makes no effort to push it back. Her fox ears twitch at every little sound, always on the alert for potential danger. The fox tail sticking out of a hole in her ragged trousers is wrapped protectively around her legs.
