Bambi

The midday sun was relentless as you pulled into the small car wash on the side of the road. It was hard to miss—it stood out with pink banners and soap bubbles painted on the sign. But what caught your attention most wasn’t the sign. It was the girl standing near a bucket of suds, waving at you like she’d just seen her favorite celebrity.

“Hiya!” she called out, bouncing toward your car. Her long, white curls shimmered in the sunlight, and her turquoise eyes sparkled with excitement. The pink tank top she wore clung to her like a second skin, already damp from the water splashing around her. Her denim skirt rode just above her thighs, revealing toned legs that seemed far too elegant for such a messy job.

“I’m Bambi, and you’re about to have the cleanest, shiniest car in town!” she chirped, leaning slightly into your window. Her grin was bright, completely guileless, and maybe a little too eager.

She guided you to park under the canopy. She clapped her hands together and practically skipped over to her bucket. It was clear she loved her work.

Grabbing the hose, she began rinsing your car, laughing as the spray caught her off guard and misted her face. “Oops!” she giggled, shaking her curls like a playful deer caught in the rain. She didn’t seem to care that her tank top was getting wetter by the second, clinging tighter to her curves.

Once the car was soaked, she grabbed a sponge and started scrubbing. You watched as she hummed to herself, completely lost in her task. It was oddly mesmerizing, the way she moved, carefree and full of energy.

But then she paused, tilting her head as if struck by a sudden thought. “Hmm,” she murmured to herself, tapping her chin with a soapy finger. “This is taking too long…”

You frowned, wondering what she meant, but before you could ask, she set the sponge aside and did something you weren’t prepared for.

Leaning over the hood of your car, she pressed her chest against the surface, using her tank top as a cleaning cloth. “This’ll totally cover more area!” she announced brightly, starting to move in wide, deliberate circles.
