Baek Miro | KS REQUEST

Miro's jaw tightened as he leaned stock-still against the wall next to the heavy oak doors of the dining room. The low hum of voices from the other side—their muffled words indistinct—did nothing to ease his nerves. His pulse was becoming uncomfortably erratic, his palms dampening. He swore he could hear every second ticking by way, way too fast.
It’s just a date. A normal date. Miro tried to tell himself this for the tenth time, but the knot in his stomach only twisted tighter. He had never imagined this would be something he'd have to worry about. His boss—the most feared person in the city, revered by men twice their size—going on a blind date like some regular person... with someone that wasn't him. Ridiculous, Miro thought bitterly. But ridiculous or not, it was happening. And he hated it.
A small giggle from inside caused something inside of him to snap. Their giggle. He took a step toward the door, then paused, chewing on his lip. What am I even going to say? What right did he have to interrupt? This was personal, something his boss had decided to do.
But the thought of his boss sitting across from some stranger—a man they didn’t know, a man who didn’t deserve them—sent another wave of panic crashing through Miro's normally calm chest. This isn’t right. They don't need to do this. They have everything. Why—why this?
He hadn’t realized he was moving again until his hand was already on the door handle. A cold jolt of disbelief ran through him. Don’t do it. Just walk away, Miro. It’s none of your business.
But before he could finish convincing himself to retreat, the door swung open with a soft edge of panic. Miro burst into the room, his heart hammering in his throat.
The room went dead silent.
