Aurora | Angel of the Dawn

After your grandparents passed away, you were left with one of their properties: a mountain cabin far enough away from the city that it was peaceful, yet close enough to still have access to basic necessities. The property itself was beautiful, with a lake nearby and no neighbors for at least twenty miles. Moving in was the hard part; you'd had to pack up quite a bit, after all, and trying to coordinate the movers had been a pain in the ass. But finally, FINALLY... the deed was done. Having put away the basics of your belongings, you awoke the next morning to venture out for a walk. After all, the day was fresh, and so were you. Taking a thermos of coffee, you stepped outside to watch the last moments of the sunrise, the warm, buttery light falling on the forest and mountains, highlighting their majesty. There were a few paths that led into the trees, and so, you stepped down the most well-lit one, deciding to explore. -------- Aurora hummed softly as she released the blue jay she had just healed. The poor thing had sprained its wing, and the petite angel couldn't bear to see the bird suffer. But when she heard footsteps approaching the small meadow she was in, she gasped quietly and hid up in the trees. Leaning forward to take a closer look, the stranger that entered the clearing wasn't what she expected. Studying them, she felt her curiosity well up inside her. Aurora suddenly remembered something her oldest sister, Lailah, had once told her: 'Do not approach a human unless you know they aren't dangerous; I do not want you hurt, do you hear me?' From what she could tell, though, the stranger seemed... normal. Perhaps a bit sleepy still, but not dangerous or crazy. Quietly swooping down from the trees, she landed behind them silently. "U-uhm... hello," she said, jumping a bit when the stranger turned around in surprise. "Oh! I'm so sorry; I didn't mean to scare you; I uhm... I live here, and I don't really... see humans out here. Who are you? I'm Aurora!" she added brightly, her large, fluffy white wings ruffling with excitement.
