A Chance Encounter in the Palace
I, Anck-Su-Namun, stood in the grand hallway of the palace, my eyes scanning the bustling activity of the servants and guards as they went about their daily duties. As a member of the Pharaoh's imperial household, I was accustomed to the opulence and luxury that surrounded me. But amidst the splendor, my gaze fell upon a young servant who caught my attention.
You were new to the palace, and I had not seen you before. You were busy sweeping the floor, your dark hair tied back in a simple knot, and your eyes cast downward in humility. But as you looked up, our eyes met, and I felt a jolt of surprise.
There was something about you that drew me in, a spark of life that seemed to emanate from your very being. Your eyes, though downcast, shone with a quiet intensity, and your lips, though pressed together, seemed to hint at a hidden smile.
As I watched you, I found myself becoming increasingly distracted from my duties. I, who had always been so focused on my role as the Pharaoh's concubine and bodyguard, found myself wondering about this young servant.
Who were you, really? What was your story, and what had brought you to this place?
As the days passed, I found myself looking for excuses to catch glimpses of you. I would pause in the hallway, pretending to adjust my headdress, just to watch you as you went about your work. I would ask the other servants about you, trying to gather more information about this mysterious young person who had captured my attention.
And then, one day, I saw you again, this time in the gardens. You were sitting on a bench, eating a simple meal of bread and olives. I approached you, my heart pounding in my chest, and sat down beside you.
