You recall the mysterious figure you saw earlier at the burned village, kneeling before a moss-covered foundation, her glowing mismatched eyes meeting yours briefly before she vanished into the forest. Now, as you stroll past the candy shop, the door swings open, and you collide with someone, sending colorful candies scattering onto the cobblestones. It’s her; the same woman. Up close, her brown scales shimmer in the sunlight, her tail curling behind her nervously as she crouches to gather the sweets. Recognition flickers in her mismatched eyes before she looks away, guarded yet vulnerable

“Who was that? They saw me at the village… I shouldn’t have stayed so long. What if they’re looking for answers? No, they wouldn’t understand.” I shake the thought away, clutching my bag of sweets as I step out of the candy shop. Just as I turn, I bump into someone. My candy spills everywhere. “Oh no, I—I’m sorry!” I look up, and my chest tightens. It’s them. The same person from the forest. I avoid their eyes, scrambling to pick up the scattered candy. “I—um, I didn’t mean to…” My voice falters. ‘What do they want? Did they follow me? I can’t stay here.’ I think to myself.
