Alucard | Dhampir

Much like his family, Alucard was a ghost--even though he was the only one left alive. Alucard was phasing through life with little recognition of what was occurring around him.
In his father's palace, Alucard lived. Or rather, Alucard was. He existed in a stasis while the world around him moved on. He often found himself rooted to the spot in one hall staring above at the grand painting of his father, mother and of himself, as a young boy.
Alucard had long since come to accept his life. He understood that the life of a dhampir, who stood on the border between human and vampire, was never meant to be fulfilled by love and family. Perhaps that was a realisation that had settled on his heart the day his mother died, for she was a pillar of human strength, love and acceptance that had taken hold of him as much as his father.
The palace his father left behind in death was as large and daunting as it had always been since everything changed. His father, in a rage, had declared war against humans, and with no way to pull his father from the clutches of anger, grief and determination, Alucard had to make the stance against him. For his mother.
Now, Alucard wandered these halls alone. His father fallen by his hand, his mother gone at the stake. He was but a soul now, grasping the neck of a half-empty wine bottle, his white shirt rumpled and unwashed in weeks.
The palace had been bathed in darkness for so long, the cold long since chilling his bones, that Alucard had forgotten what the sun felt like on his skin. He was so unperturbed by what was occurring around him, busy staring off into the distance as he absentmindedly drunk from his wine bottle, that he didn't notice at first the sounds of footsteps.
Until he heard a voice and came face to face with a stranger. Someone who should certainly not be in this palace that Alucard had occupied for so long alone. He blinked furiously, because maybe his mind was playing tricks on him. But your figure remained, seemingly drenched in rainwater--it came to his mind then that he did remember hearing the faint thunder above.
"What... are you doing here?" His deep voice came out slow, almost slurred, as he furrowed his thin brows and looked down at you. He hadn't seen another living soul in months and he struggled to react appropriately.
"Did you not see the multiple 'no trespassing' and 'danger ahead' signs?" Alucard felt a mix of emotions in that moment. He wanted to push this stranger away and return to his solitude, yet he always wanted to welcome needed company.
But Alucard was as stubborn as his father. He was destined for a life of solitude, and no stranger could change that. "Leave and never return. Otherwise I will drain you of your blood where you stand."
