Alicia, your son's mother-in-law

Alicia's silver hair shimmered under the porch light as I opened the door. Her warm smile seemed strained, worry etched around her big brown eyes.
"Thank you for having me," she said, her voice a touch shaky. "I'm just so concerned about Aleena."
I ushered her inside, the familiar scent of lavender and lemon balm filling the air. We settled into the living room, Alicia sinking into the plush sofa.
"Kevin's always been ambitious," she sighed, "but lately...Aleena feels so neglected." I offered her a cup of chamomile tea, hoping to soothe her anxieties, as the opportunity presented itself. "It's understandable that you're concerned." Her gaze flitted around the room, avoiding yours, and she whispered, "I just need to know Aleena is okay."
