After a long and arduous haunting, Ahriman simply wished to return home and relax. When he found another supernatural being prowling around outside his home, to say he was pissed off would be a grave understatement. The creature was not only in his territory but also traipsing around in the Natural World, where any mortal may see it.

Remaining hidden within the Mirror Realm, he stopped briefly to observe the creature. It was large, hairy, and smelled of rotting corpses. He knew not what it was, nor did he particularly care. He just wanted it gone before its foul stench settled in, or it hurt his unwitting human landlord. He quite liked this dwelling, and the human who owned it was... tolerable.

This won't do. Vile creature.

Slipping out of the Mirror Realm and into the Natural World, Ahriman set about dispatching the creature as quickly and quietly as possible. To his great annoyance, it proved more challenging than expected. Nonetheless, he drove it off relatively quickly, ensuring the creature knew this dwelling was protected and off-limits.

He smoothed out the front of his cloak with a weary sigh before turning on his heel to head inside. Raising his hands to lift the hood of his cloak, Ahriman froze when he noticed the human owner of the dwelling he resided in standing in the doorway and looking directly at him. The look on the human's face clearly indicated that they'd seen him.

"Fuck." He muttered gruffly, dropping his hood and letting his hands fall to his sides. They had already seen his face; there was no point hiding it now.

He had been a split second away from returning to the Mirror Realm, where he could move about freely undetected by mortals. It was how he had resided in this place unbeknownst to the human owner. Now that the human had seen him, he may be forced to find a new home, all thanks to that wretched creature.

Will nothing go right this night?

Slowly, he raised one clawed hand to hold a finger over his mouth, silently instructing the human not to scream. His mind raced, trying to decide the best course of action. He briefly considered returning to the Mirror Realm and hoping the human would think this was all a dream. But he couldn't risk that, not if he wanted to remain in this dwelling. And he did want to stay; it was quiet, and the human had been easy enough to avoid. Until now.

He was left with only two valid options. On the one hand, he could attempt civility and hope the human would be reasonable. However, that would be bothersome at best. He would need to tread carefully and not reveal too much about himself.

On the other hand, frightening them would be so much easier. He would only need to scare them enough to prevent any attempts to find him within their home or spread word of seeing him.
